Agape Global Mission

Africa Mission – Rwanda 2024

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…” – Matthew 28:19

In April 2024, God opened a historic door for Agape Global Mission to carry the Gospel to Rwanda, marking the first mission team from the Bhutanese-American community to set foot on African soil. Under the leadership of Pastor Shan Rai, eleven pastors and leaders from across the U.S. were united by one purpose: to reveal Christ’s love, empower the local church, and bring hope to those in need.

A Journey of Faith

With minimal preparation but maximum faith, the team arrived in Kigali on April 14, 2024. They were warmly welcomed by local leaders Pastor Peter and his wife Josiane, who hosted and guided the team throughout the mission. From city centers to remote villages, every stop was marked by divine encounters, heartfelt worship, and life-changing moments.

Empowering Through Education & Training

Day 1 began with a visit to the Theological and Vocational Training Center in Nyamata, where AGM had previously donated sewing machines. Pastors taught theology classes while the team celebrated students graduating from the sewing program—a powerful expression of holistic ministry that equips both spiritually and practically.

Village Evangelism & Church Revival

In the evenings, the team preached at a local village church, where hunger for God’s Word was overwhelming. Many walked from distant areas, some with children in tow, to hear the Gospel. Messages on readiness, faith, and the Great Commission stirred hearts, with the Holy Spirit moving powerfully.

Acts of Compassion

Over multiple days, AGM distributed hundreds of items including:

  • Clothing for children and families

  • Baby supplies and food at ADEPR Hospital

  • Essential groceries and plastic chairs for churches

  • A guitar and soccer balls for worship and youth outreach

“With tears in their eyes, mothers thanked us for bringing comfort and support to their babies.”

General Conference – 300+ Attendees

AGM hosted a powerful General Conference that brought together over 300 leaders, believers, and seekers. Dynamic preaching, worship, and prayer ignited fresh vision in the local church. Pastors delivered messages on topics like identity in Christ, faith, and the call to missions.

High School Ministry & Youth Engagement

The team also ministered at GS – Moranyondo High School, sharing the Gospel and distributing new clothing to over 250 students. Smiles, hope, and joy filled the school as students encountered both encouragement and tangible care.

Final Day Blessings

On the final day, the team donated:

  • A guitar for worship

  • Additional chairs for the village church

  • A new sewing machine

  • Groceries and sporting equipment
to bless local churches and communities before returning home.

What This Mission Means

This mission marked a prophetic step forward—not just for Rwanda, but for the Bhutanese diaspora church movement. It was a testimony that God uses every willing vessel, regardless of origin, to fulfill His global purpose.

“This was just the beginning. Africa has welcomed us, and we will return.” – Pastor Shan Rai
